CLARITY
Dear friend,
Here’s some advice from a loving on-looker
I can see you are dazed and feeling distraught
You’re wandering through life in a direction unknown
Feeling weary and tired and losing all hope
But without feeling lost we would never feel found
Without feeling confused we would never know clarity
So you say you feel lost, I say let’s get lost together
Somewhere along the way we’ll find clarity forever
You seem to think life is just black and white
I say you’re wrong, life’s full of color
It’s the color that molds us, shapes us and refines us
Some say taste the rainbow but I say live it
Go discover yourself in every shade
Of purples, greens, yellows, and grays
Stop hiding behind your past mistakes
Your hurt, your pain, let them be carried away
The present is now and the future is coming
It’s time you decide which life you’ll be living
Facetiousness is not an answer
It’s a sorry facade and it’s nowhere near clever
So as you try to interpret your pigmented world
Remember, dear friend, you are never alone
There are people who love you and a Savior with open arms
So don’t be afraid of life’s colorful spectrum
You are strong, you are brave,
You are positively awesome!
The Storm Within- Sariah Andrews

An ocean of majestic blue
The sky above with grayish hues
Whitened sand so soft and warm
Deadened silence before the storm

The sky now turning a midnight black
Giving me warning I should turn back
Flashes of lightning from ground to sky
Ignites the world like the 4th of July

The clouds release streams of rain
I stand there knowing I shouldn’t stay
But each droplet seems to wash away
The mistakes of all my yesterdays

We connect for a moment
The storm and I
As I realize with sorrow
That’s how I feel inside

A thundering conscience
Gusts of wavering faith
It’s time to let go and come unto Him
To free the potential I’ve been holding within

I feel myself lifted
As I let go of all doubt
I stand peacefully on the shore
As the rainbow comes out

I turn from the sea
My shimmering friend
Lungs filling with air
I take a salty breath

The storm has moved on
And so has my fear
The rainbow assures me
My Savior is near

Haunted
Our fingers intertwine, eyes lock on each other
It’s a perfect, still moment so I snap a mental picture
I close my eyes and make a wish, a wish I still remember
While you carefully and skillfully disguise our hopeless future
The past and the present blur together
Ignorance sets in, I really should know better
Breathing in, breathing out
With every breath comes a sting of doubt
I desperately reach, you grasp my hand
Then release with a smile as I heartbreakingly land
You promised me, you promised me all
Now you gaze in contentment as you watch me fall
It’s clear now, I always wanted you more

You’re a liar, and a player, and you specialize in “ignore”
So why am I still fighting for a boy not yet a man,
Why do I still reach for your undependable hand?
Because you made me feel alive, you convinced me it was true
I’ve heard time heals all wounds, so let time heal me of you
I still become paralyzed by moments of a memory
I am forced to face reality, that you will always haunt me

I made this blog for any of those who enjoy reading my poems. In reality they are lyrics that have not yet found a melody. These words come from my heart and, if only I played an instrument, they would be accompanied with sweet music. For now, they will remain as poetry. A quote I just love, which inspired the title of my blog, is by Dennis Gabor, who said, "Poetry is plucking at the heartstrings, and making music with them." I am creating music in my own way with words. I truly hope anyone who reads these will enjoy them and feel something inspiring. Also, if you are reading any of my work, THANK YOU!
